Good day, All. I watched a documentary called “Big River Man” in 2011. I was 24 years old, overweight, and in the midst of a drug and alcohol addiction. I was looking for purpose in my life, as I still am, but I was chasing it in all the wrong directions. The movie featuring a Slovenian man, Martin Shrell, hit me hard when I watched it. I remember seeing this man, who drank a lot, doing great things with his life. He was swimming the World’s largest rivers to highlight the pollution humans have done to them.

Around this same time another documentary would serve to inspire me. It was called, “Garbage Warrior”. It sparked an interest in environment and building science. It showed me the difficulties of fighting for change, but that it was possible. Here was a man that had inspired countless people around the World to think of garbage in a different light. Here were people that were taking a problem and turning it into a solution. Not to mention – the buildings are remarkable works of art. It highlighted how we can live comfortably, not needing to sacrifice anything, while living in perfect harmony with Mother Nature.

Fast forward to Now. I took a course in Energy Systems Technology at NBCC a few years ago. I learned a lot about how Energy flows and a lot of useful skills I think are important for the future. I spent the first two years of my life in a small town in Newfoundland named Colliers. It is a beautiful area that I hope to revisit soon. A man there was making these solar collectors out of pop cans a while ago – just like Martin Shrell – he was taking a problem and turning it into a solution.

I will be making these solar collectors for sale. I think they are a great way to take advantage of Free Energy from the Sun, while giving back and honoring Mother Nature. Let me know if you are interested in buying one of these. I am working out costs, doing some heat gain/flow calculations and producing the first unit shortly. Stay tuned!! We can be the change. Peace.
